The film’s title refers to the intoxicating kick/high a vampire gets in their bloodstream when they drink a mortal’s blood. But there is also an intense bodily kick that results from addiction withdrawal: Robbie sobering from alcohol, and Anna ‘kicking’ human blood drinking away.
Kicking Blood: A Vampire Love Story, from 2021, is the second entry in Chapter V’s Blood Junkies, from Vampiric Projections. These films treat vampirism as a drug-adjacent addiction to blood.
